Both are rated commercial by Hydro Gear. 3100 is entry level with 350lb-ft of output torque and gross vehicle weight of 1,200lbs vs 3400 (500 lb-ft and 1,600lb). The ZT3,400 usually equipped on heavier mowers. For personal use, any of these would serve you well for years with proper maintenance.
