The pack is awesome -- it is so extremely light and simple. I will be using it on Frontier as my one personal item. I love the top brain compartment for my stuff I need to grab on the plane (hand sanitizer, charging cables, gum, etc).I can't blame you, it's a cool looking bag. ULA restock on Wednesdays just in case you are keeping an eye on it! I've had the Venture Ready 26 for a couple weeks now and really love it. I don't have ULA so can't speak to that. It's the perfect size for me (5'3), very comfortable straps, fits close on back. There is no doubt an X-Pac Dragonfly (or in the case of u/dunelly the ULA Atlas) can't match the price of a polyester Osprey bag that's made in Vietnam. But as u/eliewriter suggested, getting the Dragonfly custom made to your specs is the key to good value. Others have ordered the Dragonfly with load lifters and a hip belt so you should be able ... ULA White Lightning ULTRA Dragonfly is back in stock. Well, it's "Mr. Dragonfly" posting again, adding to the hype about this pack (lol). But lots of folks have never seen the white version of the ULTRA Dragonfly, which I own and love so much. Many folks didn't even know they existed until I posted pics of my own.

The only drawback of the ULA is you have to be strategic in how you pack it because it's just well, basically a massive clamshell but with not a lot of organizational slots in it (still a good thing though).Honestly think Ultra fabrics for a backpack are pretty overkill and not worth the $50 premium over a regular dragonfly in X50 fabric. Personally, unless you’re literally bushwhacking your way through dense woody brush or sliding the bag down sandstone mountain sides, then something like X21/VX21 is more than enough.

You don't have a lot to work with on 7 kg flight. But imo a lot of stuff is just too heavy for my tastes, ie Goruck, etc as well.
